As you may (or may not) know, I'm leaving for the Influence Conference in just 2 short days! It's been on my mind constantly as I'm trying to prepare myself to learn and also to meet some really great people. But there's one other thing about the conference that's been on my mind a little more than I'd like...

Am I the only one?
I especially concerned myself with what to wear to The Stripes Party. Now, let it be known that I love solids. I love prints too, but stripes just aren't me. I think they are adorable on other people, but they just feel forced on me! Is this weird? I think so, too.
I have a few striped tops and they are ALL blue and white. Classic stripes. Only one of which I wear somewhat regularly. And I don't have any striped dresses!
So like I was saying, I've been searching and searching for something to wear. The more I looked and couldn't find the "right thing", the more I started to wonder why I was so concerned about this. Am I trying to make my first impression with what I wear? Do I really rely on my clothing that much?
And Sunday, as I sat in church trying to focus, I found myself thinking about how time was running out to get this together.
It was then that the Lord spoke to me.
And it wasn't gentle.
"Shut up and Listen."
Ok maybe God doesn't say "shut up"
Maybe he does.
But the message couldn't have been clearer. I needed to be quiet and hear from Him.
So I did.
"You will be clothed in righteousness"
God reminded me that I am clothed in His righteousness, covered in His grace.
What look can be more stunning?
"That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life -- whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food and your body more than clothing?"
- Matt 6:25
So, if you're like me, be reminded: He has clothed you in the most beautiful of garments -- His love. And nothing could look better on you.
On a side note: I've decided on a solid dress with a single stripe ;)

So true! God created who we are and He wants us to not worry about our clothing. I haven't had any time to give a single thought to what I am going to wear. I'll have to think about it tonight since I leave early in the AM. Yikes! :)

I can totally relate! After hours (painful hours!) of searching for a perfect striped outfit, I finally decided on a pleated shirt (kinda counts, right?) and jeans. Thank you for the sweet reminder this morning :)

This is really beautiful - thanks for sharing. I think it's easy to get so wrapped up in this since we will be fleshing out the lives we have so carefully curated online. I know it's been on my mind as well.

Thank you for this beautiful post. I found myself in a similar situation, worrying about what to wear... to the stripes party and to the sessions. I wondered why I was so worried about this because it's not really something I worry about day to day. I have prayed about it and have found peace in wearing what is comfortable and not trying to be something or someone I'm not. I decided not to buy anything new for the conference and just wear what I already have.
Thanks again for this beautiful post and reminding us that regardless of what it is we wear we are all beautiful and clothes in righteousness through HIM!

Thanks for sharing your heart on this. I've been worrying too much over this, too. What it boils down to is we need to dress as ourselves so we can focus on how God is working during the conference. Good post and I hope we can say hi to each other this weekend!

That totally counts for sure :). I have a stripped dress I'm going to wear, but it's also in my facebook profile pic and I've posted a picture on my blog in it. I almost thought "I need to buy a whole new dress!" Then I remembered that of 200 ladies, I'll 99.9% likely be the only one who knows it shows up all those places. haha
And I think God tells me to shut up sometimes, too. I don't listen very well.
