Couch to 5k - Week 1

Well, I started a week late, but at least I did it! Week One complete! And suprisingly to myself, it was pretty easy. The hardest part was talking myself into GOING to the gym! The first week, I had to start by briskly walking for 5 minutes, then jog 60 sec, walk 90 sec, jog 60, walk 90, and on and on for a total of 20 minutes. It went by fast, felt great, but also made me red faced, out of breath, and slightly sweaty! (Sweaty is a miracle, I have zero sweat glands on my face, but my hair got pretty wet!)

As it progresses I'm nervous, because already next week I will be out of town for a few days! I have to make sure I stick with it no matter where I am, and that includes during my week-long mission trip to Mexico coming up!

Wish me luck! I'll be running a 5k in no time.. I hope.

house plans

I have had a blast this week dream designing my future home! I think it all started when Wade and I went walking on some land, scoping out a good area to build a home! I've spent my free time searching house plans and room design ideas. Its so fun! So I thought I'd post some photos I found that have given me inpiration for our future house!

I like this picture of the bedroom mainly because of the dark wood floors, and the grey, brown, green, cream color palet! Also the rug and chair, lol so pretty much I like it all. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE big windows!

The most important part of my master bedroom is the SHOWER! At first, I didn't even want a bathtub, but I think that is because I always pictured them like the oval kind with a shower in them, or the jacuzzi tub. But this rectangular one is AWESOME so I'm back on the tub train. I would also really like two sinks. The brown hues are calming and the bench is my favorite part!

My dream kitchen would be an open space to the living room, with a dinning nook. I dream of a double oven and a refigerator with clear drawers (cause if the drawers aren't clear, I forget about the food in there!) and also an island/prep table. I like light colored cabinets, dark wood floors, and WINDOWS. What I like about this kitchen is the island and the cabinets, altough I would want them more antiqued.

Wade and I have always talked about having a picnik type table with a bench on one side and chairs on the other. I LOVE THIS TABLE! I would love to try and make it on our own though, which I really think we could do (with help from Wade's dad of course!) I also like the lanterns hanging down.

couch to 5k

ok. So, I have always envied runners. They are a mystery to me because I've tried running.. and its not fun! I can't understand why anyone would enjoy that! But, its really good for you and I can imagine it provides a great sense of accomplishment, so hesitantly I say this: I'm gonna learn to love running. I hope. I found this program "Couch to 5K" and it is supposed to teach me to run a 5k (AND LIKE IT) in 9 weeks. I'm putting that fact on here hoping it will keep me accountable! This is no small feat for me. Last week my husband tried to get me to go running with him and I seriously doubt he'll be doing that again! I whined, complained, got mad, felt embarrassed, and settled for walking/jogging. Basically, not a fun experience for either of us! But, it is super important to have a healthy heart and I really truely do want to love running. I'd love to be a runner and do marathons, but that seems like a distant dream to me, as well as one I dont necessarily want to put forth the effort to acocomplish! So, here goes nothing. I'm going to give it a shot. I start Monday (cause its a 3 day/a week program and it just makes sense for me to start at the beginning of the week) and will hopefully be faithful in doing it and maybe even posting my progress.

WISH ME LUCK! And Endurance!

Old Married Couple

Well, the newly wed phase is officially over... NOT! But the first year of marriage is! What an amazing year! To celebrate, we went on a trip to Chicago!

We chose Chicago because of Rick Bayless, Top Chef Masters winner of 2009! Best food EVER.

We stayed at a fantastic hotel, The Wit, where we enjoyed a great view of the Chicago Theatre through our floor to ceiling windows!

We walked all over the city, and looked down on it from 103 stories high from the Willis Tower. We closed out the weekend going to see Stomp.

This has been the most natural, fulfilling year of my life. I get to live with the most incredible man on earth! Whether big or small, each moment is something I want to capture and keep forever! I'm so thankful to God for knowing exactly what I needed in my life and for giving me someone who balances me and brings out my best! I love you Wade!
